The Walking Dead is an American television series by Frank Darabont, which aired from 2010 to 2022. It is part of The Walking Dead franchise. The plot is based on the comic series of the same name by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. The series premiered on October 31, 2010, in the United States on AMC with a 68-minute pilot episode as part of the network's "Fearfest."
On September 9, 2020, AMC announced that the series would conclude with its 11th season, the final episode of which aired on November 20, 2022.
Over time, AMC released new series and grouped them into a franchise. Shortly after announcing the final season, the network announced the spin-offs The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, The Walking Dead: Dead City, and The Walking Dead: Rick and Michonne. The series Fear the Walking Dead is set to conclude with its 8th season in 2023.
