Leatherface (real name Bubba or Junior Sawyer, later Junior Slaughter in the classic series; Thomas Brown Hewitt in the remake and Jedidiah “Jed“ Sawyer in the reboot) is the main antagonist of the cult horror film series The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The mask-wearing, chainsaw-wielding cannibal who wears human skin masks is, alongside Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Michael Myers (Halloween), and Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th), one of the great “neo-classical” horror icons, but has not yet quite achieved their popularity in mainstream pop culture.
