Monkey D. Luffy, also known as Straw Hat Luffy (Japanese: Mugiwara no Rufi or simply Straw Hat), is the protagonist of the manga and anime series One Piece. His big dream is to become the King of the Pirates, because according to him, he would then have achieved the greatest possible freedom. To do this, he must find the legendary treasure "One Piece," which was once presumably hidden on the Grand Line by Pirate King Gol D. Roger. That is why he began his career as a pirate at the age of 17. His trademarks include the straw hat he once received from his mentor Shanks, as well as his devil fruit powers, with which he can stretch his body like rubber.
