Portgas D. Ace (called Puma D. Ace in the German version) was long considered Luffy's older brother by three years, but he was Gold Roger's son and not related to Luffy by blood. Ace dies in Marineford while protecting his younger brother Luffy from an attack by Admiral Akainu.
